Well, we finished our FPU class this week. If you haven’t heard of it, check it out.  He has a website.  I think I have linked to it. But I never know with inserting a link.  So, it is www.fpu.com.  It is a GREAT program.  Once you are able to look past how society has conditioned us to accecpt DEBT as a fact of life, you can see how you can live WITHOUT debt.  Right now, we should be debt free, excluding our house, in about three years.  That means no more student loan, no credit card debt, no car loans, no ANYTHING!  I am really excited about the prospect of not having debt.  I have pretty much been in debt since I started college, and I admit, before taking this class that I figured I would be in debt until I died. 

Our society has shifted so much since my grandparents generation.  They were young adults in the 30’s, so to them debt wasn’t an option.  If you didn’t have the money to buy something, you didn’t buy it!  What a concept.  Anyway, that isn’t the point.  Society today has people so focused on getting something NOW, and that the “small” price of interest you would pay on your credit is worth having what you ‘want’ now.  Of course, then when you can’t pay the credit bill, because you “want” to eat, they aren’t quite so understanding. 

But don’t take my word on it.  Take the class.  It is offered usually through your church, but there are other ways also.  You can find a class in your area on the website.  The price seems like a lot at first, but the information is great. We are still in Step 2, but we are attacking our debt-snowball with a vengence, sticking to our budget, and it is really paying off.
