Sick Again

As many of you know, ok all of you.  I only have so many readers (4, I am sure, maybe 5) and they are nearly all related to me in someway.  I have kids.  Kids like to get close to you, hug, kiss, snuggle.  And I really love it, I do.  Except when they are sick.  Because then they get me sick.  Like I am now. I wouldn’t be so bad, but I have other things I want to do.  Like work, sleep.  I am supposed to go play paintball this Saturday with the church youth group, if it doesn’t rain.  But mostly, being sick is keeping me from something I hold near and dear.  Sleep. I never really think about sleep much.  I usually sleep fairly well.  But when I am sick, I can’t sleep.  Not unless I knock my self out with medicine.  But then I have that medicinny feeling all the next day. I could go to sleep right now, but as soon as I lie down, but sinuses will clog like the toilet after a three year old has tried to flush an entire roll of TP, while it’s still on the roll.

Oh well, just have to wait it out.  Until then, I think I will sit down and get nice and cozy with my kids.  Nothing like returning the favor, eh?

Vroom! Vroooom!

Well, after two very cold, awful, and horrible weather days, I have my motorcycle license! And after the class that I was in I deserve it!  When I signed up for the Motorcycle Basic Rider Course in February, I thought that taking it in late April would be pretty safe.  But I forgot that we live in Minnesota, and Minnesota decided to let me know who was the boss.  Last weekend, it was about 60 degrees.  I had the first class, the classroom portion on Thursday.  It rained ALL day Thursday, traffic was TERRIBLE to get to me class.  I made it on time, but just barely.  Good thing I gave myself over 2 HOURS to make the 1 hour trip.  Saturday and Sunday afternoon were my range classes.  I awoke Saturday to a snowstorm, and high winds, and the air temp was about 35.  It didn’t get much better by the afternoon, and I was worried they would cancel the class, but we had it.  It was a good time, just cold.  I learned to ride, and did pretty well.  Sunday dawned, cold but clear.  By the time class started, it was overcast, but not windy, and about 40.  It was a much better day without the wind, but we did get a little rain, a lot of snow, and some sleet.  Talk about hitting all weather conditions during training.  About the only thing I haven’t experienced is NICE riding weather.

Needless to say, I passed my test.  I missed only 4 points, so I did better than even I thought. So, now onto the next part.  I need a bike.  If anyone would like to purchase a motorcycle for me, I would really appreciate it, or you could donate to my MC fund!  Any amount would be appreciated greatly.

Have a great day.

Haven’t We Met Before??

No, this post is not about people, but CARS!  My life seems to be occupied with different modes of transportation lately, or un-transportation.  We have replaced the Malibu. We are getting ANOTHER Cavalier.  I don’t know what it is about that car.  Maybe each Cavalier we have seems to be a good car, that I forget how they have left me.  Anyway, to add insult to injury, we are getting this Cavalier from my brother-in-law.  The same BIL we SOLD a Cavalier to about 8 years ago.  In fact, WE ARE BUYING BACK THE SAME CAVALIER WE SOLD TO HIM!  I suddenly feel like I did when we moved back into the same house we used to live in when I was about 10.  I think I could have saved myself the trouble by just keeping the car back then.  Of course, we were about to have our first child, and we NEEDED a NEW car, not a car with 100,000 miles on it, right?

HA!  All my cars currently have WELL over 200K, so I don’t know what I was thinking back then.  Anyway, the Cavalier we used to own, and will soon own again runs OK.  Other than it running out of gas on the way to town to get gas last night, it ran, well, it ran like a 13 year old car with 203,000 miles.  It has been used on the farm for the past few years, to it isn’t any too clean, either.  For $250, I can’t complain though.  It will get me to and from work, and that is all that matters. Of course, I do take my motorcycle rider class this week, starting today!   So I shouldn’t have to drive this car too much anyways.

There can be only one!

Well, I feel that my vehicles are working against me.  Two months ago, I had 4 working, albeit older and user, vehicles.  The average mileage on said vehicles was about 215K miles, so they were bound to go at some point, but did three have to leave within a 1 1/2 month time span??

First to go was our truck.  It has transmission problems, and I don’t have money (or the necessity) to get it fixed right now.  Next was the Cavalier my mom gave to us.  Drove it for a good 4 months, then lost the belt and blew out the head gasket, or cracked the block or something.   Now, yesterday the Malibu finally succumbed to a long term intake manifold problem.  When we learned of it 9 months ago, we knew it was  a terminal illness, but choose to look the other way.  And now, I am surprised that the car died.

It could have been worse.  I could have been far from home, but I wasn’t. For that I am thankful. Also, I didn’t have the kids with me, and I am thankful for that also. But, now it is time to begin the search again.  I looked quickly last night, and I see some promising leads for a ‘95 Cavalier, Chartreuse in color….

Just can’t do it!

I can’t seem to get it right.  I wrote a post the other day, and somehow, it was made into a new page.  I don’t know how.  Anyway, if you want to read it, go to the FPU Finished Page, it’s there, don’t worry.
